The standard engine is not equipped with a prelter.
As an option, a prelter can be installed on the inside
of the air lter cover.
Loosen the two retaining knobs and remove 1.
the cover. If the engine has a prelter, it is
mounted on the inside of the cover.
Clean the area around the lter element to 2.
prevent debris from getting into the engine
when the element is removed.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Operating the engine with loose or damaged
air cleaner components could allow unltered
air into the engine causing premature wear
and failure.
Air Filter
If the engine seems weak or runs unevenly, the air
lter may be clogged. If running with a dirty air lter,
the spark plugs can become fouled.
For this reason, it is important to replace the air lter
regularly (see the heading Maintenance Schedule for
the proper service interval).
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Do not use compressed air to clean the air
lter.
Do not wash the paper lter.
Do not oil the paper lter.
Do not tap lter to clean this could cause
damage to the sealing.
WARNING!
The engine and the exhaust system
become very hot during operation.
Risk for burns if touched.
Allow engine and exhaust system to
cool at least two (2) minutes.

Air lter
Remove the lter element. Replace a dirty, 3.
bent or damaged element with a new one.
Handle the new element carefully and do
not use if the sealing surfaces are bent or
damaged. If the element can be reused, tap
it against a solid surface to remove dust.
Check the air cleaner base. Make sure it 4.
is secured and not bent or damaged. Also
check the air lter cover for damage or
improper t. Replace all damaged air cleaner
components.
Install the lter element. Check that it ts 5.
properly and that no air leaks occur.
Install the cover and tighten knobs by hand.6.
