SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Safety instructions regarding the
surroundings
S Ne ver allow children to use the machine.
S Ensure no one comes closer than 50 feet
(15 meters) when working.
S Ne ver allow anyone else to u se the
machine without first ensuring that they
have understood the contents of the
operator’ s manual.
Safety instructions before starting
work
S Inspect the working area. Remove any
objects such as stones, broken glass,
nails, steel wire, string, etc. that can be
thrown or can wrap around the cutting
head or shaft.
S Keep others at a safe distance. Children,
animals, onlookers and helpers should
stand outside of the safety zone of 50
feet (15 meters). Stop the machine i m-
mediately if anyone should approach.
S Check the entire machine before starting
work. Replace damaged parts. Check for
fuel leakage and that all safety guards
and covers are complete and fastened
securely . Check all nuts and bolts.
S Check the cutting head
for cracks or any other
damage.
S Ensure the trim mer guard
is mounted and not
damaged.
Personal protection
S Always wear boots and
other equipment described
in the “Personal protective
equipment” section.
S Al ways wear working
clothes and heavy--duty
long pants.
S Ne ver wear loose fitting
clothes or jewelry.
S Pe rsons with long hair
should (for personal safety)
put their hair up.
Gener al safety precautions
IMPORTANT!
S The machine is only designed for trimming
grass.
S The only accessories you can operate
with this engine unit are the cutting at-
tachm ents we recom mend in the “Tech-
nical data” section.
S Never use wire, rope, string, etc.
S Never use th e machine if you are tired, if
you have drunk alcohol, or if you are tak-
ing medication that could af fect your vi-
sion, your judgment or your coordination.
S Never use the machine in extreme weath-
e r c on dition s such as se v ere cold, ve ry hot
and/or humid climates.
S Never use a machine that has been modi-
fied in any way from its original specifica-
tion.
S Wear personal protective equipment. See
instructions in the “Personal protective
equipment” section.
S Never use a machine that is faulty . Carry
out the checks, maintenance and service
instructions described in this manual.
Some maintenance and service measures
must be carried out by tra ined and quali-
fied sp ecialists. See instructions in the
“Maintenance” section.
S All covers and guards must be fitted before
starting. Make su re the spark plug cap and
lead are not damaged. Otherwise you
could get an electric shock.
S The machine operator must ensure that
no people or anim als come closer than
50 feet (15 meters) while wo rking.
S Stay clear of spinning line.
S Secure or rem ove loose clothing or cloth-
ing with loosely hanging ties, straps, tas-
sels, etc. They can be caught in moving
parts.
S Being fully covered also helps protect you
from debris and pieces of toxic plants
thrown by spinning line.
S Keep handles free of oil and fuel.
S Always keep th e engine on the right hand
side of your body .
S Hold the unit firmly with both hands.
S Keep trimmer head below waist level and
away from all parts of your body . Do not
raise engine above your waist.
S Keep all parts of your body away from
muffler and spinning line. Keep engine be-
low waist level. A hot muffler can cause
serious burns.
S Keep firm footing and balance. Do not
overreach or use from unstable surfaces
such as ladders, trees, steep slopes, roof-
tops, etc.
S Use only in daylight or good artificial light.
S Use only for jobs explained in this manual.
