1. Cut tall grass from the top down.
2. Operate trimmer at full throttle.
Clean threads and lubricate with grease - if no improve-
ment, replace spool retainer.

3. Clean air filter. Refer to “Replacing and Cleaning Air
Filter” earlier in this manual.
4. Turn mixture needle clockwise 1/16 turn.

NOTE: This engine complies with EPA (Environmental Protec-
tion Agency) and CARB (California Air Resource Board)
regulations which require exhaust emission control. As a
result, the carburetor adjustment needle(s) are equipped with
plastic cap(s) that limit the rotation from the original factory
adjustment. If your unit exhibits specific performance
problem(s) where the Trouble Shooting Section recommends a
needle adjustment and you are at the limit of adjustment, the
unit should be taken to a factory authorized service dealer for
repair.
