Adhesives such as “Loctite RC/609 or RC/680” or “Fel-Pro Pro-Lock Retaining
I or Retaining II” are used on the following:
a) OPC lever hubs and cross-shaft
NOTE: Care must be used
not
to bond the bearing, next to each OPC
hub, to the cross shaft which could cause binding of the OPC levers and
erratic operation.
b) Transmission drive pulley on the engine PTO shaft.
5.1.20 An anti-seize compound is used on the following locations:
a) On the blade drive pulley hub, located on the engine PTO shaft (this
allows for ease of removal of the pulley).
b) Between the cutter housing spindles and the sheaves.
5.1.21 Dielectric grease is used on all blade type electrical connections to prevent
corrosion and loss of contact.
5.2 ADJUSTMENTS
WARNING
POTENTIAL HAZARD
♦ If you leave the key in the ignition switch, someone
could start the engine.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
♦ Accidental starting of the engine could seriously injure
you or other bystanders.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
♦ Remove the key from the ignition switch and pull the
wire(s) off the spark plug(s) before you do any
maintenance. Also push the wire(s) aside so it does
not accidentally contact the spark plug(s).

♦ The engine can become very hot.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
♦ Touching a hot engine can cause severe burns.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
♦ Allow the engine to cool completely before service or
making repairs around the engine area.
