WHEEL GEAR AND PAWL SERVICE
IMPORTANT: Do notremovebothwheelsatthesame
timetoavoidmixingofparts.(TheR.H.andL.H.ratchet
gearsarenotinterchangeable.)Make notesontheposition
ofwashersandsnapringsduringdisassembly.
1. Remove only onewheelfromthesweeper.
2. Removetheretainingringsandwasherswhichholdthe
ratchetgearontothebrushshaft.
3. (Figure 27)Removethegearbyslidingitoffthebrush
shaft.(Lookforthedrivepin,whichmayfalloutofthe
brushshaftwhentheratchetgearisremoved.)
4. To reassemble,insertthedrivepinthrough thehole
neartheendofthebrushshaft.Makesurethepinslides
backandfortheasilyintheshaft.
5. Lightlygreasetheshaftandlltheratchetgearwith
grease. Assemble the ratchet gear back onto the
shaft.
6. Lightlygreasetheaxleandthegearteethonthewheel,
andthenreassemblethewheel.Thebrushesshould
rotate onlyduringforwardrotationofthewheel.Ifthe
brushesaredriven(rotated)bybothforwardandreverse
rotationofthewheel,thedrivepinisjamminginthe
ratchetgear.Disassembletocleanandlubricatethe
drivepinandtheratchetgear.
7. Removethesecondwheelandrepeattheprocedure.
BRUSH REPLACEMENT
NOTE: Brushreplacementshouldbedoneonebrushat
a time.
1. Removethehopperbagfromthesweeper.
2. (Figure 26)Loosenthehexboltsandlocknutsontwo
singlebrushretainerswhichclamponebrushtothe
doublebrushretainers.Do Not loosenorremovethe
bolts whichfasten thedoublebrushretainers tothe
brushshaft.
3. (Figure 26)Slidethebrushoutoftheretainers,noting
onwhichsideofthebrushthebristlesoverlap.
4. (Figure 26)Installnewbrush,makingsurethebristles
overlaponthesamesideofthebrushasbefore.

2. Brushesarejammed
3. Wheelsarejammed.
Wheelsskidwhensweeping. 1. Adjustheighttillbrushesare1/2"downintograss.
2. Stopsweeper.Removeobstruction.
