0 You probably have this information by now, but if not, here goes: -Recommended replacement after 100 hours of service. -Spark Plug brand Champion, Number RCJ8Y (Or Equivalent) -Gap = 0.030" This information wasn't the easiest to find, but if you go to MTD's website (www.mtdparts.com), click on the link at the top that reads "Part, Model, and Manual Finder"; then, enter your model number- using the "-" (dash), you will see a link that pulls up two engine manuals, 181-807-1 and 181-807-14. This is where I got that information from. I just bought replacement rubber for the auger, (731-1717 Blades, 4x and 731-1716 Paddles, 2x) from them. Their prices were better than Amazon and shipping was free. Best of luck!

0 To replace the plug, you have to gain access to the engine by removing parts of the housing assembly. If you look on MTDpartsonline.com, you can find the breakdown of the Snow Blower, and see what nuts to take out, where, to get to the engine. The engine is only really an outline feature on this drawing, but I think you can see enough to identify into which side of the engine the plug is installed. Start there, work your way outward. Getting the plug out is common sense, but to re-install, (DRY and without lubrication): - Start threading by hand ONLY, reverse direction if need be to "pick up" the first thread before turning clockwise again. - Using a deep socket, tighten ONLY once you can't turn by hand, so your confidence is high that the threads are not crossed. Turn using a small (8" or less) wrench until "pretty snug." Go another 1/8 to 1/4 turn. If it feels like the tendon is going to pop out from your wrist, it's getting too tight. If you have access to a torque wrench, I would start looking on the Champion website (or calling) to find out what they recommend- for the size plug you have- what torque to use in an ALUMINUM engine.
