Have a 8526 snow blower and the wheels won't turn manually or with the drive control. I took the bottom plate off and I can see the friction plate raising to the wheel but it won't turn the wheels. I tried moving the wheels by hand amd no go. Can shift the gears up and down and see the wheel moving right and left but wheels won't turn.

0 the drive-train assembly sucks. I've replaced mine twice with each supposedly "Will fix the problem" $150.00 kits.

0 Not to be too harsh on Troy-built (MTD) but my 8526 storm model with 4 way chute control threw some serious snow! My guess is that my year model was a bad design as far as drive train. A lot of play ruins the bearings that rest in the body. I've replaced them with cheap ones bought at NAPA. The one that is giving the problems is that one large gear with the smaller gear "welded" to it. the needle bearings in it get fried from the friction of the excess play.
