Question About Troy-Bilt Lawn Mower Pony

In the manual it says to engage the PTO at high rpm. I disagree with this method, many forums people are complying about replacing this belt 2 or 3 times a season. I engage the the PTO at a lower rpm in a low grass area. My mower is 5 years old and the belt is still like new. This will also save the impact on the springs, idlers, and linkage.
