Need help with installation of the 2 belts from the crankshaft to the tramsmission. The self propel would not work properly. The belt to the crankshaft was oil soaked and appeared to be slipping. Both belts were the same length. The new belts are shorter than the old ones and have double checked that the new belts are the correct part #. I can get the front or rear belt on. But when I try to put the 2nd belt on it is too short and will not go on.

0 I had the same problem, finally got it on by pushing the speed lever to low and fought with it, however, it's not working correcting, it's stuck in slow even though the cable is set as fast as it will go, the belts are very tight and I can't even get the lever on slow.

0 This manual is for the Craftsman version of the Stanley 261031x692A 26" mower. The Craftsman mower has a Briggs engine instead of a Tecumseh, and non-castoring wheels. Everything else (including the deck, handle assembly, belt system, transmission, and blade assembly) is identical. The manual also gives basic adjustments which also apply to the Stanley mower. I found this manual. L0103091.pdf
