I have a Simplicity Broadmoor 16 hydro that seems… to have a weak hydrostatic drive. Is there anything that can be done to add a little life to the trans? I can still mow the lawn. But, it labors and whines

I'm replacing the front tires and noticed there… is quite a bit of room between the inner hub of the wheel and the axle shaft itself. I would like to know if a bushing of some kind should be used on this hub
