I'm trying to start my sears mower, 21" push mulc...

I'm trying to start my sears mower, 21" push mulching mower. How many times do I need to push on the primer blub to get the mower to start and keep running...I'm not sure of the model # it's about 6-8 yrs old and has been in storage for some time.
