bought lines to replace purge and main gas lines on snapper s31bc w/trimmer; can lines be replaced just removing tank or do ya need to remove carb or just the carb?

1 clicked on 'get the manual here' inside it only thing on carb/tank stated about correct fuel mix, how to choke-prime on starting warm/cold; and taking to shop for problems, at the shop where fuel lines were bought at $2.40 they had a sign stating labor cost of $78.00 an hour; well I tell ya what, at being retired on $2100.00 a month; $78hr for weedeater repair is hog-wash, chunk it and buy a feather-lite for $100. at Wal-mart would be easier!!
