The engine on my lawnmower will not keep running. It is a Poulan pro55.I can get it started but it cuts out right afterwards. It has a new spark plug in it.What is the proper gap and is there a gas filter on the engine? If so where, and how do I get to it to clean/replace it?

0 My father has a Poulan mower like yours, and the major problem I discovered shortly after my first use is the gas cap allows debris into the tank, which clogs the intake tube, causing the same problem as you discovered. Use some sort of a suction bulb or vacuum tester to draw out the contaminated gas and rubber band a coffee filter over the cap, and you should be set. DO NOT put a piece of coffee filter under the cap above the cardboard, it will get splashed with gas and stall the engine. Trust me on this one.

0 I have a Poulan Pro 550 series. I had a similar problem. I found that the air filter gets clogged easily. Be sure to clean it often.
