Question About Poulan Lawn Mower 96112004100
cant get it to rn...

I can prim the mower...it does have gas and oil but will only run for a short time (like a few seconds) then shuts off. It smokes blue and white smoke. I bought it last summer. I am prepared to change the oil and drain the gas if I need to and refill it... could it be that or something else?
