I have trouble starting my lawnmower each week…

for Poulan Lawn Mower P4TN20RA

I have trouble starting my lawnmower each week. Its more work starting the mower than mowing the lawn. Could it be the spark plug? How often should the spark plugs be replaced? How do you know when they have gone bad. All fluids are good.
