I didnt get an owners manual w my riding mower-its...

I didnt get an owners manual w my riding mower-its a lawn tractor from home depot--i change my oil every year-have had it 3 years-but do not know when to change the air filter-it has a sponge piece and then the long square air filter-and cant find the gas filter--can you help?
