for the mcculloch 3216 do you mix oil and gas or are they seperate

0 Yes, you mix 2-cycle oil with the gas. Below is a link to user manual. This manual covers multiple chainsaw model numbers. The 40:1 ratio mentioned is supposed to pertain only to McCulloch brand 2-cycle oil. Most modern name brand oils will conform to McCulloch oil quality, especially the synthetics. What I usually do is mix 32:1 _ Or just mix 40:1, then add about a half ounce extra oil per gallon. It's better to have a little too much oil than not enough.

0 Addendum: The oil reservoir/tank on the saw is where you put chain and bar lube.
