2003 Scotts L1742... Used once this year and after putting it away, noticed gasoline smell in the garage and then later, that the fuel tank level had gone from 3/4 full on put away, to virtually empty in a matter of a few days. Appears that the fuel line is a dip tube into top of plastic tank which leads to engine. It is very difficult to access to inspect. With my hand, I was able to trace the tubing all the way to the clamp at the engine. I don't know if the plastic tank is leaking, the tube if leaking, or if it's something else. I don't see how the tractor would syphon gas when not in use. I've never had any such problem in the 6 years I've been using the tractor. The only thing I have noticed is that when fuel is drawn down through normal use, the tank is under slight vacuum. experience with gas raining while tractor in storage between usage? - Suggestions on diagnosis/repair short of a repair shop? The tank is so well protected by a rear metal shiel and the chasis, I don't see how to get at it or the fuel hose if I wanted to replace either. Thank you
