My tractor doesn't cut the grass evenly any more and often will hit and cut into the ground. Can I correct this myself without bringing it in to a dealer repair shop? The tractor runs well otherwise. Even when the tractor was new I could only use the two highest settings. The other height settings were far to low to be of any use. Has anyone else commented on this problem? Thanks for any help you might offer. Stephen Gray srgray55@gmail.com

0 I have the same mower and solved the problem this way. I discovered that the uneven cut was due to a broken mandrel -- it's the part that holds the blade in place. When you hit a small stump or unseen debris, you can break the mandrel. It is only held in place by 3 bolts, so even when one is broken it can be enough to loosen the mandrel to the point that it will alter the cutting plane. The part is only $20 and you can replace it yourself. E-mail me for further info.

0 I have the same problem but I can't seem to find a proper diagram of how to change the Mandrel myself? Would you have a such diagram?
