3 George...many only require an adjustment on the lever that engages the friction wheel and disc to drive the machine. Otherwise the friction wheel or disc may be worn and may need replacing. I'm no expert but have had issues with this before and adjustment often works. Example: see this link - http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/Craftsman-Parts/Snow-removal-equipment-Parts/583163-853/0071/536/Model-536886480/0247/1507200?keySuffixId=&pathTaken=partSearch&pathRender=modelComponent&documentCompId=P0109120&diagramPageId=00002&productTypeId=&searchModelNumber=536886480&subCompDesc=Drive%20components&brandDesc=CRAFTSMAN&modelDesc=OWNER Designed to fit your product perfectly. This friction wheel disc replaces the worn or damaged disc that works with your snow thrower's friction wheel. Your snow thrower's friction wheel engages the disc and allows the thrower to move. Refer to your snow thrower's shop manual for installation instructions. Your owner's manual may not have enough information.
