Model 950-52677 will start and run well, auger is ...

Model 950-52677 will start and run well, auger is running well, but will not go into any gear. Could it be a transmission fluid problem, When I moved it inside following last use appeared to be a oil residue on ground looked like blowbye on a car oil cap?? Oil level is fine.
