The recoil rope broke. I replace the rope and re-installed the recoil starter but the rope doesn't completely retract leaving 10 inches of loose rope. How is that fixed?

0 Craftsman Blower 536.886121 After a couple days of thought I removed the recoil starter and was able to correct the excess slack in the rope. Here's how: with the rope removed (again) turn the pulley counterclockwise to increase the tension on the enclosed spring. Holding the pulley in this position thread in the rope and tie a loose knot. Carefully release the pulley to allow the rope to recoil. If there is slack in the rope, repeat the process and give the pulley an extra turn to increase spring tension. When proper tension is found tie the knot tight. Mine took 6 complete turns.
