removal of electric clutch & pulleys to change pto drive belt, bolt on underside will not budge

0 i am trying to remove the magnetic clutch from my briggs &stratton engine and i have got the bolt out and the whole assembly drops a few millimeters then hits some sort of retaining stud. how do i get the clutch past this stud. regards sid
