My D50 LN engine keeps cutting out, if it is dirt ...

My D50 LN engine keeps cutting out, if it is dirt in the diesel tank, how do I drain to clean it other than by disconnecting the fuel pipe by the filter? Or could it be another problem other than the air filters which are clean?
