B&D ST 4500. Feed Spool is stuck and will not release. Any ideas how to get it out?

0 I've looked thru the manual, but it doesn't address what to do if the feed spool is not releasing. I don't want to break the trimmer trying to get the spool out, but I've been tempted... :-}
