I have the DN 402 F3 chainsaw model, which has a black plastic slider switch in the handle & wonder what it is for, please?

0 It locks the chain so you can sharpen it although you would have to hold it in with chewing gum or something as it is spring loaded which makes it reasonably useless for this operation

0 It does NOT lock the chain, it is for lubrication. It connects to a small cylinder inside the body which injects chain oil from the reservoir through a small hole next to the chain. It is essential to press the slider a couple of times after each minute or so of running to keep the chain lubricated otherwise sawdust will strip the oil off the chain, and then it wears against the chain bar.
