hi I just bought a old atco and it does not have a spark. I have checked the plug, the ht lead and suppressor cap but still no spark. could you give any advice on what else to do thankyou

5 Hi it could be a few things, has your atco got electronic marked on the pull starter side of the casing if so it could be the coil under the fly wheel is duff,it could also be the flywheel key that locates the flywheel on the shaft if this has sheared it will effect ignition. have a look on the carb and you will see a black wire connected on a lug when you close the throttle the wire shorts out and kills the engine pull this wire off and see if you have a spark some times the terminal connection goes to ground and this will cause a problem. you may have points type ignition and the point may be closed or to open or the condenser unit could be duff but you will have to remove the flywheel to check this.
