Question About Ariens Snow Blower None

Snow Blower starts easy, and runs well too, But after a while gasoline starts leaking from a cover plate that has a small filter. This plate is held in place with 2 screws. Behind the plate is 2 springs for the valve rods. Any idea why it is leaking gas? Thanks. Joe
