The mower will not start unless all kill switches are depressed. After it starts and I let up the brake it dies. I had to clamp down all switches in order to use the mower. What am I missing.

First find the nut and bolt at each end of the sweeper shaft, they are on the inside edge of the side panels, remove bolt left and right side, now remove the top piece of the black plastic mount for the shaft. Now you can pull the whole shaft out of the mounts and remove it from the sweeper. Once out you will need to remove 1 complete brush holder (they slide off the shaft, then replace broken bristles and shift the holder along, then do the next and so on.

Remove pulley from top, push jackshaft through, note spacer between bearings. And keyway / shafts often need de burring before they will pass through bearings. And don't burr up the top of shaft by whacking with a heavy hammer, clean up burrs first then gentle tap with copper hammer, or use a press.
