OPERATION
WARNING: Be sure to read the fuel
information inthe safety rules before you be-

FUELING ENGINE
WARNING: Remove fuel cap slowly
when refueling.
This engine is certified to operate on unleaded
petrol. Before operation, petrol must be mixed
with agoodquality 2--cycleair--cooledengineoil
designed to be mixed at a ratio of 40:1. A 40:1
ratio is obtained by mixing 5 liters of unleaded
petrolwith0,125 l iterof oil . D O NOT USE au to-
motiveoil o rmarineoil. T heseoilswillcauseen-
gine damage. When mixing fuel, follow instruc-
tions printed on oil container. Once oil is added
topetrol,shakecontainermomentarilytoassure
that the fuel is thoroughly mixed. Always read
and follow thesafety rules relatingto fuelbefore
fueling your unit.
CAUTION: Never use straight petrol in your
unit. T his willcause permanentenginedamage.
FUEL REQUIREMENTS
Usegoodquality unleadedpetrol. Thelowest
recommended octane grade is 90 (RON).
IMPORTANT
Useof a lcohol blendedfuels ( morethan 10 %al-
cohol) can cause major eng ine performance
and durability problems.
WARNING: Incorrectuseof fueland/
or lubricants w ill caus e problems s uc h as:
improper clutc h engagements, overheat-
ing,vaporloc k ,powerlos s ,lubricationdefi-
cienc y, deterioration of fuel lines, gas k ets
and internal carburetor components , etc .
Alcohol blendedfuels will causea highab-
sorption of moisture in the fuel/oilmix ture,
caus ing thes eparation ofoil andfuel.

S To stop the engine, move the ON/STOP
(I/0) switch to the STOP (0) position.

WARNING: Avoid anycontact with the
muffler . A hot muffler can cause serious burns.

NOTE: The t hrottle lock--out is designedto
prevent unintentional use of the throttle trig-
ger. The lock--out must be pressed with the
palmofyourhandasyougripthethrottlehan-
dle before the trigger can be used. DO NOT
squeeze the throttle trigger until the engine
has started and runs.
1. Set unit on a flat surface.
2. Move ON/ST OP (I/0) switch to the ON (I)
position.
3. Slowly press the primer bulb 6 times.
4. Move the start lever to the ST ART position.
5. Pull starter rope handle sharply until en-
gine starts and runs.
6. Allow unit to run for 10--15 seconds, then
fully squeeze the throttle trigger to disen-
gage the starting system.
STARTING A WARM ENGINE
1. Move ON/ST OP (I/0) switch to the ON (I)
position.
2. Pull starter rope sharply until engine
starts and runs.
NOTE:Normally, t he warm starting procedure
can be used within 5 -- 10 minutes after the unit
is turnedoff.Ifthe uni tsits for m orethan 10min-
utes without being run, it will be necessary to
start the unit by following the steps under
STARTINGACOLDENGINEorfollowingthe
starting instruction steps shown on the unit.
STARTING A FL OODED ENGINE
Move the start lever to theRUN position and
fully squeeze throttle trigger. Pull the starter
handle repeatedly while squeezing throttle
triggeruntilenginestartsandruns.Thiscould
require pullingthestarterhandle manytimes,
depending on how badly the unit is flooded.If
the unit still doesn’t start, refer to TROUBLE-
SHOOTING T ABL E.
