SPEED CONTROL LEVER
Thespeedcontrollever,locatedontheleft sideofthe
tractor'sdashconsole,allowsyouto regulatethe ground
speedofthe lawntractor.Touse,depressthe clutch-
brakepedalandmovethe leveroutof the parkingbrake
notchandforwardto increasethetractor'sgroundspeed.
Whenadesiredspeedhasbeenreached,releasethe
leverintoanappropriatenotchto maintainthatspeed.
Toslowthetractor'sgroundspeed,depressthe clutch-
brakepedalandmovethe speedcontrollever rearward
andreleaseit intoa notch.
PARKING BRAKE
Tosetthe parkingbrake,fullydepressthe clutch-brake _._J
PARK
pedal.Movethe speedcontrolleverall the waydownand BRAKE
intotheparkingbrakeposition.Releasethe clutch-brake
pedalto allowtheparkingbraketo engage.
Toreleasethe parkingbrake,depressthe clutch-brakepedaland
movethe speedcontrolleveroutofthe notchestothe desiredposition.
Releasethespeedcontrolleverandthe clutch-brakepedal.
NOTE: Theparkingbrakemustbe setif the operatorleavesthe seat
withtheenginerunningor theenginewill automaticallyshutoff.
THROTTLE/CHOKE CONTROL LEVER
Thethrottle/chokecontrolleverislocatedon the rightsideof thetrac-
tor'sdashpanel.This levercontrolsthe speedofthe engineandwhen
pushedall thewayforward,the chokecontrolalso.Whensetin a given
position,the throttlewillmaintaina uniformenginespeed.
iMPORTANT: Whenoperatingthe tractorwiththe cuttingdeck
engaged,thethrottle/chokecontrollevermustalwaysbein the FAST
(rabbit)position.
IGNITION SWITCH MODULE
Thekeyswitchmoduleis usedto
startand stopthe engine.Itis also
usedtoactivatethe ReverseCaution
Mode(bladesoperatewhileriding
in reverse).Insertkeyinto the key
switchmoduleandturn clockwiseto
the STARTposition.Releasethe key
intothenormalmowingpositiononce
enginehas started.Theheadlights
will beactivatedin the Normal(and
ReverseCaution)modes.
Tostopthe engine,turnthe ignitionkey
counterclockwiseto the STOPposition.

InterlockSystem"and"StartingTheEngine"inthe Operationsection
of thismanualfor detailedinstructionsregardingtheIgnitionSwitch
Moduleandoperatingthe tractorin REVERSECAUTIONMODE.
Neverleavea runningmachineunattended.AlwaysdisengagePTO,
moveshift leverintoneutralposition,setparkingbrake,stopengine
andremovekeyto preventunintendedstarting.
SHIFT LEVER
The shiftleveris locatedonthe left
sideofthe fenderand hasthree
positions,FORWARD,NEUTRAL
and REVERSE.Thebrakepedal
mustbedepressedandthe tractor
mustnotbe in motionwhenthe
movingshiftlever.
iMPORTANT: Neverforcethe
shiftlever.Doingsomayresultin
seriousdamagetothetractor's
transmission.
DECK LIFT LEVER
Foundonyour tractor'srightfender,the deckliftleveris used
to changetheheightof thecuttingdeck.To use,movethe
leverto theleft,thenplacein the notchbestsuitedfor your
application.
PTO (BLADE ENGAGE) LEVER
Foundonthe tractor'srightfender,the PTO(bladeengage)
leveris usedtoengagepowerto the cuttingdeckorother
(separatelyavailable)attachments.Tooperate,movethe
leverall thewayforward.Movingthe leverallthe way
rearwardinto the PTOOFFpositiondisengagespowerto the
cuttingdeck/attachment.
NOTE: ThePTO(bladeengage)levermustbe inthe
disengaged(PTOOFF)positionwhenstartingthe engine.
CUP HOLDER
The tractor'scup holderis locatedon the fenderto theleft of
the seat.
SEAT ADJUSTMENT LEVER
The seatadjustmentleveris on the frontsideofthe seat.Usethis
leverto adjustthe seatforwardor rearwardto acomfortableoperating
position.Seethe "Service&Maintenance"sectionlaterin thismanual
for instructions.
CLUTCH-BRAKE PEDAL
The clutch-brakepedalis locatedonthe left sideofthe lawntractor,
alongthe runningboard.Depresstheclutch-brakepedalpart way
downwhenslowingthe tractorbychangingspeeds(Referto Speed
ControlLever).Depressthepedalall the waydowntoengagethe disc
brakeandbringthe tractorto a completestop.
NOTE: Thepedalmustbe depressedto startthe engine.Referto
SafetyInterlockSwitcheslaterin thissectionof thismanual.
