Check the oil level in the engine
Check the oil level in the engine when the Rider
stands horizontal with the engine switched off.
Lift up the engine cover.
Loosen the dipstick and pull it out. Wipe the
dipstick and replace it.
The dipstick should be screwed fully down.
Loosen the dipstick and pull it out again. Check the
oil level.
The oil level should lie between the markings on
the dipstick. If the level is close to the ADD mark,
top up with oil to the FULL mark on the dipstick.
The oil is poured in the same hole the dipstick fits
in.
Fill the oil slowly. Tighten the dipstick correctly
before starting the engine. Start and run the engine
at idling speed for approx. 30 seconds. Turn off the
engine. Wait 30 seconds and check oil level. If
necessary fill so that the oil comes up to the
FULL mark on the dipstick.
Use engine oil SAE 30 or SAE 10W/30, class SF-
CC on all machines up to 2002 models as well as
later models of Rider 11 and 13 with side-valve
engines.
From 2003 Rider 16 models use first and foremost
synthetic engine oil class SJ-CF 5W/30 or 10W/30,
otherwise SAE30, class SF-CC.
The engine takes a total of 1.4 litres/1,5 USqt of oil.
