Starter rope snapped...

My starter rope snapped and the bottom half is wound inside the housing. How do I get inside the housing, and how do I replace the rope?

Poor design

we just had same thing happen. Figured it must be easy, took off plate, removed motor, only to find, it's not so easy. Several shops told us this is junk and to throw away, as they want $60 to repair. We're taking the $60 hit. But, to design a device such that a "wear item" requires such a complex and costly repair is simply lame. I thought Troy-Bilt was a quality name, but now, I'm not convinced.
