Husqvarna Garden Tractor YTH180

not chargeing

I have removed the fly wheeel to uncover the charging unit there was bird seed and dirt on the charging unit. so i cleaned it off and put it back together. I started it up and had god amps through the factory amp meter. I mowed to pass looked down now it is at 0 amps. before all of this it was showing a negitive charge. So i am lost and mad
