clutch wont turn

my chain saw clutch would not turn if i take off the brake kit i think its called that. it turns find its only when i start to screw the screws back in the clutch wont move, i know my chain saw got jamed in tree.
and thats when started, it runs good. i know its got something to do with the unit just above the clutch the band that goes around i am thinking it got bent.
