Oil addition

I just bought a new poulan manual rotary lawn mower which had already been assembled and didn't come with either an owner's manual or a container of oil. I bought a bottle (76 ml) of 2 cycle oil (multiratio) and added it to the oil compartment, but the dipstick still doesn't show much oil in the engine. How much oil should I be adding to fill (but not overfill) the engine?
