Yard Machines Push Lawn Mower 11A-54MC000

Grinding Associated with Starting Cord

My brand new lawn mower works fine, but when i push it i hear a loud grinding noise. it seems to be associated with the starting cord. of course the cord is attached to the handle so everytime i push it forward or back i hear the noise. with the mower on and not moving, i have lightly pulled on the cord and the noise comes back.
