honda walk behind transmission

my honda walk behind mower is no longer a self propelled. When the engagement bar is depressed, the transmission does not engage also whether the mower rear wheels do not roll in reverse when in free wheel mode or not. does anyone know what the problem may be? Is thr trans cooked?
