MTD Tiller 410

tines on till don't spin

tiller starts up tires move but tills don't spin I dont have a manual to see wat the problem would be
It looks as if its chain driven.chain might be the problem but I don;t want to take it apart without a manual to look at

    I have the same problem with the same 410
    your shift assembly is worn out.You have to take everything apart to get to the part. it cost about 45 dollars.Im on my third one in two years.
    MTD is no help.....Im still trying to find out what is causing this problem...

    You can get the parts page from mtd.com
    you need your model number.
